Mr. Speller has over 25 years of experience and service in public safety and serves as the Chief Instructor at the School of Protective Services. With many years of operational experience domestically and internationally, Mr. Speller is one of the most sought after firearms instructors in the region and works exclusively with law enforcement officers and public safety and security professionals. He is a certified instructor in pistol, shotgun and rifle and received his training at the North Carolina Justice Academy.  He trains law enforcement officers and security professionals throughout the country.

A. Waddy

Fenix Training Group and the School of Protective Services are very honored to have independent executive protection instructor Mr. Waddy as the Lead Instructor for our Solo Protection Agent series. Mr. Waddy has over 26 years of diverse domestic and international experience in the military, security operations and force protection management services. He is a retired combat veteran of the United States Army (USA) where he served as a First Sergeant and Operations Supervisor at the Combat Maneuver Training Center (CMTC) in Hohenfels, Germany. 

Mr. Speller led the development of the national Law Enforcement D.R.A.W. School Firearms Training program in 2014. He travels throughout the country each month to train law enforcement instructors how to implement and teach the D.R.A.W. shooting method to officers in their departments. His training methods have been featured in several law enforcement periodicals, such as Police Magazine and Law Enforcement Technology magazine. He frequently trains at police conference and association meetings. Mr. Speller also serves as an adjunct instructor at the Public Safety Leadership Institute, located at Central Piedmont Community College, helping develop public safety professionals for leadership roles.  

 He also served as the Senior Advisor for the premier 82ND Airborne Leaders Course and the Division Individual Readiness Training Program (DIRT-P).  He worked as an advisor and trainer for the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Anti-terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) department. Mr. Waddy has developed and implemented High Risk Personnel Security Detail Training, Defensive Driving Techniques and Surveillance Detection programs that are in use around the world. He served as the Senior Advisor for the Afghanistan National Civil Order Police (ANCOP). After his service to the Department of Defense (DOD), Mr. Waddy has worked internationally for multiple high-profile clients in the public and political arenas. 

Mr. Speller remains operationally active in multiple roles, both domestically and internationally. He also works regularly as a consultant with clients to help plan complex security operations. He also holds his security license through the PPSB for North Carolina-based operations and works as the Vice President of Training and Development for a multi-state security company.
